Where The Hog Story Begins

Every Big Idea Starts With A Spark…

I’ve Always Believed That Life’s Too Short To Hide Who You Are.

Whether that’s repping your favorite coffee mug like a badge of honor, training for your first 5K, geeking out over the way data connects, or making sure your pet gets the best spot on the couch — these little quirks tell the story of you.
For years, I’d see people — myself included — tuck those passions away. We’d save them for “our” people, in “our” spaces, instead of letting them out into the everyday world.
And then one afternoon, somewhere on the long drive home from celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary (and 19 years together), it all clicked.
We’d pulled into one of those massive roadside travel stops — the kind with a smiling mascot on every sign and a dizzying sea of merchandise inside.
Shirts, mugs, hats, blankets… you name it, they had it.
I was standing in a long checkout line with an armful of things I never planned to buy, and the woman in front of me had a full cart of the same mascot-covered treasures.

We Started Talking.

Not about the weather. Not about where we were headed.
About the stuff.
It was such a small, silly thing — this shared love for a quirky symbol — but it broke the ice instantly.
In that moment, we weren’t strangers.
We were part of the same little club, brought together by something visible and recognizable.
And that’s when it hit me: If a roadside mascot could create connection out of nowhere, imagine what could happen if the symbol actually meant something and represented us.

Why A Hog?

The Hog isn’t just a logo. It’s a mindset.
To “hog” something means to take it all in, to embrace it fully.
Some people use that word like it’s selfish — but I see it as a challenge.
What if we flipped the narrative?  What if being a Hog meant living your passions without apology and bringing others along for the ride?
Real hogs are incredible creatures.  They’re intelligent, social, and deeply connected to their groups.  They remember faces.  They form bonds.  They look out for each other.
Our Hog carries those same traits — whether it’s walking your furry companion, lifting in the gym, sipping coffee at sunrise, organizing data in a spreadsheet, or whatever makes you come alive.
Every sub-brand is a different version of the Hog in its element.  Coffee Hog.  Data Hog.  Fit Hog.  Paw Hog.  Eventually, more to come.
Each one is a flag you can carry to say, this is my thing.  These are my people.
And when someone else sees it, they know instantly: Hey, you’re one of us.

Not Just Merch, A Movement.

From that road trip moment on, I knew this had to be about more than just putting a design on a shirt.
The Hog had to stand for something bigger — a community united by identity and passion, and fueled by giving back.
That’s how The Identity Outpost was born: a home for your passions, a place to find your people, and a way to turn what you love into real-world impact.
